Pinus nelsonii Shaw

Description

A small pinyon pine with its needles in fascicles of three and persistent fascicle sheaths. The main stem often branches close to the ground. The bark is smooth with small furrows. The species is classified in Pinus subgenus Strobus section Parrya subsection Nelsoniae, a monotypic subsection.
