Thank you for agreeing to give a seminar at the Instituto de Biología. The following are some hints to help make your talk go smoothly. |
| Where to find the auditorio |
The IB-UNAM seminars regularly meet in the Auditorio on the ground floor of the Jardín Botánico, Instituto de Biología. The Jardín Botánico is a few hundred feet from the Instituto de Biología, which in turn is on the 3er Circuito Exterior, Ciudad Universitaria (map). The Instituto de Biología is adjacent to the Instituto de Ecología on the west side of Avenida de los Insurgentes. The Facultad de Ciencias is farther away on the other side of campus, and is usually reached by bus or taxi. |

| When to arrive |
Ordinarily, seminars are Tuesday at 11 a.m. It is a good idea to for the speaker to arrive 15 minutes early. |

| AV equipment |
We have a laptop with Windows XP and a video projector. A microphone and internet are also available. Most speakers do not use the microphone because the room only has about 135 seats (on an elevation). If you need a Mac please let us know with at least a half-hour notice. Of course, speakers may use their own laptop if they wish. The projection screen is medium-sized. |

| English or Spanish? |
If you are not fluent in Spanish, not a problem. Most of the audience understands English. It does help to speak slowly. |
| Seminar format |
Typically the coordinator introduces the speaker at 5 minutes after the hour. The seminars typically last 40 minutes with 10 minutes for questions. |
| After the seminar |
We retire to a patio for coffee and cookies. Ideally the speaker has time to stay and visit after the talk. |
